Proposal - Church Sanctuary Building to Be Moved
Cressy Glenora Church is seeking tenders to move the sanctuary building from its current location on the south-east side of County Road 7, to the north-west (bay side) of County Road 7. (Does not include Burley Hall). Work is projected to commence Fall 2023 to be completed Fall 2026/7. Traffic will be redirected by ferry during this period.
The idea for the move was suggested at a winter bible study. Locals and long-time church members noted that Jesus called his first disciples while on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. "Being closer to the water is more biblically accurate," another agreed, "it simply makes sense to have the church closer to the water."
The relocation project was recently approved as part of the PEC development plan. We are grateful for their collaboration. Church members surveyed the building and took measurements. A number of trades people will be involved. "At least four fork-lifts," said one church member who is familiar with construction, "and a crane to secure the steeple." Although, due to the bell within the steeple it is possible that two cranes will be required.
At the same study evening, our church pianist recalled the passage in the Gospel of John when Jesus said, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." She said, "How are we supposed to bring fish when we are on the wrong side of the road for fishing?" To which another member replied, "Very true. In fact, if we moved the church to the other side (the bay side), in the summer we could fish before the service. We could then open the church kitchen to everyone for cleaning fish. The move is sure to be of benefit to the entire Cressy fishing community and short-term rental [AirBnb] visitors." An additional project was proposed but is still in debate. The Gitchi Nagamo Bell will not be moved. Our church craftsman suggested a pulley-system be installed over the road. "This would enable the bell to be rung comfortably from the new sanctuary location," another member said, "which is ideal."
Public discussions and vote will take place on April 30th to discuss the proposed temporary ferry linking Kaiser X-Road to Prinyer's Cove (from 2023-2026/7) throughout the duration of the relocation. Coffee and refreshments to be served.

Please join me in celebrating this exciting new move! The church is going places... LITERALLY! Oh, and April fools! Blessings to you all, From, your student minister, Aaron
