Warm greetings to the Friends, Neighbours and Members of Cressy Glenora Church,
I'm back from vacation and it was wonderful. I went down South! Well... down to South Bay. And I took a cruise! Well... a cruise down Picton Main Street. (Ha ha) In fact, I stayed around The County. I visited with friends and family, and enjoyed a number of lovely community activities. Here are some of the highlights...
Painting with Jacqui (above) Jacqui B. inspired a group of local folks to get creative at the North Marysburgh Town Hall. Everything we needed was supplied, so all we had to do was show up! Then we were guided through making our versions of two paintings, a sunset and a peaceful garden. The creative afternoon was relaxing and yet upbeat and fun. Thank you so much!
Embroidery with Alternatives for Women During my vacation I also attended an embroidery afternoon with “Alternatives for Women” (an organization in The County who helps women out of domestic violence 613-476-2787). This was organized by the Society of Stitchers PEC. Everyone chose a word to stitch. Maybe because I was on vacation, I chose the word "calm" which is how I felt. Thank you to all for an afternoon of gentle crafts and conversation.
Festival of Biblical Storytelling
I was also blessed to attend a festival all about creative ways to share wisdom stories from the Bible. Last Sunday, I shared what I'm calling "scriptures in the sand." It is meant to open our minds and imaginations to the mystery of holy presence... in a gentle and peaceful way that is good for all ages. I'm grateful to be part of a community of faith that appreciates ideas and is open-minded to encountering the Spirit in new ways. I'll be sharing this approach for the next few Sundays.
500 Year Old Tree
Speaking of vacations, Bob and Vicky went on vacation and sent us this photo from Charleston, South Carolina. It is a 500-year-old oak tree. Wow! That means this tree was planted in 1523. That's one old oak tree and still thriving. Amazing! Thank you Bob and Vicky for sending this along. (If anyone has vacation photos to share, please send them along!)

PIE Day this Sunday Our church is on a journey to fully welcome all of God's children, including gay, lesbian and trans people of all ages. To love them just as they are And to welcome and support the parents, grandparents and family who love them too. We are also offering a safe space for the entire community to learn the most up-to-date information with us, where folks can ask questions without fear of being judged for "saying the wrong thing." We believe that everyone is a child of God and deserves a welcoming community to call home. And we want to make right the ways the church has judged people in the past. This Sunday during coffee hour we are honouring all of this with PIE Day. Many of us signed up to make (or buy) pies and bring them to coffee hour, where we will share them and will eat them up with delight! Sounds pretty sweet, eh :) Come on by Burley Hall at 11:30 on Sunday morning to take part. Free or by donation. Everyone is welcome, including YOU.
Last thing, be sure to SPRING FORWARD this Saturday night!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Blessings to you all,
From, your student minister, Aaron
