Slow Down on Sundays

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

Last Sunday morning, we almost had a terrible road accident at the church. A truck came barrelling around the corner and slammed on the breaks to prevent hitting a car that was leaving the church parking area. (You can still see the long skids marks on the pavement outside the church building.) As a newcomer and as someone committed to caring for this community, I looked into this further. Turns out this isn't the first time.

There are already lots of road signs asking people to slow down. (These pictures above are of me showing all the signs alerting people to slow down near the church.) The County has offered that we could ask the police to set up on Sunday morning to ticket drivers who are speeding near the church. But we don't want to do that. Instead,

we ask that drivers respect the 60 km speed limit and please slow down on Sunday near the church.

And please let other people know to slow down too.
