Walking the Aisles

June 15, 2023

Greetings to the Friends, Neighbours and Members of Cressy Glenora Church,

When I was studying in Montreal, I often visited the dollar store. Not to shop, but instead to slowly walk the aisles. Somehow, I found great calm in the clutter of the store. Walking the aisles--like an ancient labyrinth--helped me to reconnect to the quiet centre of myself, during that busy period of my life. I wonder if everyone has a special way of connecting to the quiet centre within...? Do you, dear reader?

Well, this past week I was walking in the dollar store in Picton, when I came across this book by Oprah Winfrey. It's called "The Wisdom of Sundays." The book features short words of wisdom from a wide variety of people, such as athletes, scientists, teachers, tv personalities, ministers (like moi), Buddhist monks, entrepreneurs and more. Here are some words from Oprah that reminded me of my dollar store walking experiences... and that I hope will speak to you too 🙏

"...my prayer is that you will uncover the little spaces in your own life, find comfort in them, gain insight to their meaning, and see the way forward to an extraordinary new existence." ~ Oprah, in The Wisdom of Sundays

The Restaurant of Mistaken Orders

This touching video was forwarded to us all from a reader. It tells the story of a restaurant whose waiters make charming mistakes in customers' orders... and why the customers absolutely love it 💜 Enjoy

Before I go let me leave you with this prayer for the week:

"Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. Let peace begin with me and let this be the moment now."

Blessings to you all,

from your community minister,

Rev. Aaron
